GETTING THERE

 

When planning your journey to the “Old Ingebirah” please bear in mind that, for 3 and 5 day treks, the tour commences with dinner together on the first evening, which usually starts at about 7.30 pm. Riding starts the next morning. Arrival is any time after 5pm.

 

BY AIR:

 

Our nearest airport is Canberra International Airport.

It offers daily flights from numerous Australian cities. For details please contact the airport on (+61 2) 6275 2222   or  www.canberraairport.com.  Airlines offering services to Canberra and flight schedules should be available.

 From Canberra, if you are not planning on hiring a car, you will need to arrange public transport to either Cooma (90 mins from us) or Jindabyne, ( 30 mins.from us) our nearest towns. Please see details on bus services below.

Airliner Shuttle Buses

A number of companies operate coach services that connect with the airport.

If you want to travel to the Snowy Mountains, the South Coast or other regional centres, just ask your bus company to pick you up or drop you off at the front of the terminal.

 

BY BUS:

 

When travelling by bus it is recommended that you take a service to either Cooma or Jindabyne, from where we will be able to pick you up ourselves. Cooma is about 90 minutes. from “Old Ingebirah” and Jindabyne about 30 minutes.

 Return passenger pick up service from Cooma is $130 pp, from Jindabyne $65 pp.

Numerous bus companies offer services to both destinations, largely from Canberra. For more details please see below;

Countrylink runs a daily rail/coach service from Sydney, Melbourne,
and Brisbane to Canberra. From Canberra to Cooma, it changes to coach service to Cooma.

Cars can be picked up and dropped off to the special rental car park towards the Qantas end of the main terminal building.

BY CAR:

 

We will send you a map with directions with your confirmation letter.
It is approximately 6 hours drive from Sydney via Canberra to "Old Ingebirah". About 3 hours from Canberra and about 7 hours driving from Melbourne. "Old Ingebirah" is 30 minutes driving south from Jindabyne, on "The Barry Way", which is the road leading from Jindabyne along the Snowy River down to Buchan, Victoria.

Coming from Cooma, you drive on to Jindabyne, drive past the two shopping centres, and the turn off is the first on the left after the BP service station, at the big round-about. This is the Barry Way, directions show Ingebyra, Dalgety.
Follow the Barry Way past the turnoff to Dalgety for 31 km from Jindabyne, (at 26 klms the road turns to gravel) at the bottom of the hill, you'll see a mail box on the right hand side, with “Old Ingebirah” painted on it. Turn right in over a cattle grid, follow the track for approx. 1 klm, go over another cattle grid and onto the “Old Ingebirah” homestead.
