Riding on a high!!

Hi there!
“Old Ingebirah” is now officially launched as the new home of Snowy River Horseback Adventure and is proving itself equal to the task! The Homestead is very comfortable and looks terrific after renovations. We have five lovely guest rooms and continue to offer country hospitality at its best! With the house completed for now I have been making the most of the wonderful wet season we have been having, to begin landscaping and planting in the garden. Everything I have planted has doubled in size already! As usual my shovel can’t keep up with the ideas but it is coming together nicely! We have had some plant lovers along on the treks already and Chris, Louise and I enjoyed trying to identify the amazing array of plants flowering in the forest at present! Long –leaf Lomatia with its grevillia like flowers had us stumped for a few days but we tracked it down eventually!

We began the season with a full group of fun riders for our New Years Eve trek. The sudden onset of hot weather that came with it did nothing to deter the riders and we saw plenty of wildlife and 5 groups of brumbies in 3 days! The new property offers us some great new riding country with brumbies right on our doorstep! I was delighted to find we have a resident mob moved into the back paddock, a bay stallion with three mares, a two year old and two foals, they were pretty surprised to see us in ‘their’ territory!

It has been great to be out on the trail again after such a long break due to Equine Influenza! Thank you to our riders for taking bio security precautions so seriously as it would be devastating to inadvertently spread this virus! The good new is that we have just been rezoned ‘white’ and that there have been no new outbreaks since 22 December. As horses that were first vaccinated now have lower immunity it is important to remain careful for the next few months! With good management and some luck Australia will be EI free again by the end of March.

We are delighted to have a new face in the kitchen! Henrik (the Great Dane) has joined Ev in the kitchen and has been putting smiles on faces with his beautiful meals! Look forward to some new treats on the menu! Evelyn and Henrik will ensure that no guest goes hungry while riding with us!

Snowy River Horseback Adventure is now operating from Old Ingebirah Homestead. This exciting new venue is based 32kms from Jindabyne on the Barry Way. This 800 acre property offers a wealth of variety. A working cattle property, it combines undulating open grazing country with dramatic rises up into old growth forest. Steeped in history it has many interesting tales to tell, and the property’s rustic old shearing shed is a wonderful place to hear these stories over one of our famous gourmet lunches on a rainy day! Riding trails meander through all of this before heading out to the adjacent Ingebirah State Forest. Here we access all the riding country we have made our own over the past 7 years, as well as having some new trails to explore.
Purpose built horse facilities ensures practical and safe spaces for you to get to know your horse and from which we also conduct Horsemanship clinics.
The Ingebirah Homestead continues the great traditions we have established, of comfortable accommodation and fine dining! It offers gracious lounge, dining and games rooms, large sunny bed rooms (twin share) and shared bathrooms.

We are so looking forward to sharing this exciting new chapter with you all, old friends and new! Come and enjoy the best riding the mountains have to offer on this holiday with a difference!

Till then ‘Good Riding’ to you all,
From Danielle, Glen, Danny, Evelyn and Meredith
