Our Treks From October to May inclusive, SNOWY RIVER HORSEBACK ADVENTURE takes small groups (12 max.) On 2, 3, 4 and 5 day horse riding treks through the most magnificent Snowy Mountains high country of N.S.W. This horseback holiday successfully combines adventure with comfort. Instead of sleeping out at night, riders stay at a picturesque comfortable mountain lodge, with lots of atmosphere set in beautiful rural bush land, surrounded by a mountain wilderness . At the end of each exhilarating day in the saddle there are hot showers to recuperate, old fashioned country hospitality and excellent three course meals to enjoy, followed by cosy evenings around the log fire place. Accommodation is provided at “Old Ingebirah” homestead, spacious and homely, it is the centre of a large working cattle property. Many a fun night is spent around the pool table or in the comfort of a lazy lounge chair, relaxing in front of the fireplace. If you've always dreamt of riding the 'MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER' country, and don't want to rough it too much, than this horseback adventure is for you! Experienced guides take riders along bush trails, old stock routes, fire and brumby trails, winding through forests of majestic snowgums and mountain ash. The journey meanders through the pristine and unique Snowy Mountains, on the southern side of Jindabyne, trails along crystal clear streams, climbs up to peaks with awesome views of the ranges, valleys and the mighty Snowy River gorge. Canter along the open plains surrounded by impressive mountains in their blue haze and wind your way up through the bush on tracks used by the brumbies. The riding country offered is second to none, mountainous with lots of variations, making each and every day in the saddle interesting and different. An average distance of approximately 30 km a day is covered . This very scenic part of the Australian Alps houses a large variety of wildlife, such as emus, kangaroos, wombats, wallabies, echidna and deer, an abundance of bird life, as well as herds of brumbies (Australian wild horses). Breathe in that fresh air and forget about stress! A highlight of every day on the trek is SNOWY RIVER HORSEBACK ADVENTURE's gourmet lunch, carried along by our trusty pack horse. Riders are treated to a sumptuous selection of delicacies, pate' and cheeses. A chilled bottle of Australian white wine or fruit juices are all part of this delicious picnic out in the bush.
