Uncle John and Pilot
Hi There,
The Indian summer days of Autumn are to be enjoyed this season, it seems that winter is coming fast and may be a cold one! We have had some lovely trekking weather and some very atmospheric Autumn weather (yep, that translates into misty, foggy, cold and even a little bit wet at times!)
For those of you who would like to see or even ride in snow, I think there is a good possibility that we may get a little of that through our May treks this year! The deer rutting season has begun and at night the sound of the stags roaring and calling in mates has to be heard to be believed! The stags have huge racks of antlers on them and are really quite magnificent! Check out our Super May specials below!
The Garden has had a perfect season to settle in and grow! Guests enjoyed homemade strawberry and raspberry jams, and vegetables and salads straight from the garden. Summer rains really helped it along and now Merry and I (with Danny’s help) are busy cutting back, and mulching and readying it for the winter.
Brumby sightings are continuing to be quite amazing, with up to 6 mobs of fat shiny horses sighted on one day! There seem to be a lot of new horses about, perhaps with the good season and plenty of water, the mobs are travelling more this year?
Our foals are growing also and have just been a delight to watch playing together, we keep them in the paddock just outside the Homestead so that we can all enjoy them!
Our May header photo is of John Dickie and Pilot, John with his nephew Greg ride regularly with us, ‘keeping the dream alive’. With a combined age of 96 (and Pilot isn’t that old) what a team Uncle John and Pilot make! It is a joy to us to see such an exceptional horseman still enjoying a good horse and big days in the saddle.
Snowy mountains stock horses
Our colt Snowy Mountains Power N Passion continues to please, what outstanding temperament and trainability he has! We had fun taking some photos of the ‘boys’, 9 year old Aiden and 6 year old Danny on 2 year old ‘Bundy’!
May Super Specials!!! To finish off the season, we are offering a huge 20% discount to the first 6 people to book for both our 5 day 6 night May 3 - 6 ‘Down by Kosciusko’ and the 3 day 3 night May 24 – 27 ‘All the Tried and Noted Riders’ treks!
These two treks will be something special and the mountains are just too good to miss right now! So we are offering you a bit of extra incentive to get here! Don’t miss the last good opportunities to get out and cover some big miles and see the mountains this season, it is a really wonderful time of year to ride!
That’s all from us for now,
Kindest regards from Danielle and the Team at Snowy River Horseback Adventure.
