Spring 2011 Newsletter

First trek of the season, the girls from WA.
Hi Everyone, Welcome to the 2011 spring newsletter! I am a little late with this one, but that means I have some great photos for you of the girls from the first trek of the season and of our first foal for the season!
Spring arrived early this year and it is great to see grass growing already and the wattle and blackwood trees in blossom! Althoug it was very cold early in the winter, the horses wintered really well. We have had some wonderful early warm weather to wash horses in and the horse hair is flying thick as they loose their winter coats! It looks like being another really good season and after so many drought years it is great to see all the springs now flowing again and the country wet!
The first trek of the season opened with 10 terriffic ladies riding with us from WA. It is always wonderful after winter to be out riding about again, the horses enjoy it as much as we do I think! There is so much to see, and spring is literally bursting out around us. The first day out we saw a lovely little mob of brumbies, one mare with a brand new foal! More brumby sighting’s followed and plenty of other wildlife.
The girls had been praying for snow and their wishes came true! After two lovely days riding their third day out was pretty wet and cold and then turned to white! We would do anything to make our guests happy but you do have to be careful what you wish for!
We have had plans to build a larger training/campdraft arena and June saw stage one underway. We now have a ‘big flat spot’ to work horses on! Our plan was to put the cut in and let it settle over winter, we will grade it again this season and work towards fencing it in the future. It is a wonderful space to work horses and will be a great asset! The surface came up really well and Danny has been earning extra pocket money picking up any rocks.
We have some great things planned for the season and would love to see you in the mountains.
We would like to offer you a super deal to start the season with! We would love to see a few more riders on our first 5 day 6 night trek, to help make it a memorable one! We are offering a huge 25% off (you might like to come and do 2 or 3 days if you can’t get a week off at late notice?) to motivate you!
We have a great calendar of rides on offer for the season! Some special events too good to miss in the next few months are:
We still have places available on our three day four night Melbourne Cup trek. A super trek with a party spirit! Enjoy the best riding country Australia has to offer with new friends and old! We return early on cup day to watch the best horses in the country strive for the coverted Melbourne Cup while we enjoy Champagne and Canapes!
Come and experience the Snowy River Festival and then join our five day six night trek and ride the Snowy River Country yourself on our wonderful Ausralian Stock Horses! From the 4 – 6 November the best and boldest riders will muster at Jindabyne’s Station Resort for a weekend of fun and excitement! Glen and Cedar are on form, making two finals at Illabo Campdraft and finishing up 4th in the Novice. Not bad when there are 236 competitors!
That’s about it from us for now, but with a busy few months ahead of us there will be plenty to write about in the Summer edition!
Safe riding till then,
